Sometimes there just isn’t enough time in the day for a full adventure with the pups, but they still need something to burn off energy and engage their senses. That’s when a local dog park can be the perfect solution — free (or nearly free), simple, and effective.
One of our go-to spots with The Trio is Tufts Dog Park in Westborough, right on the Westborough/Grafton line by the Cummings Veterinary School. It’s a no-frills, 2-acre, fully fenced green space where dogs can really let loose. There’s an overgrown center island the pups love weaving through (makes them feel like escape artists 😅), plus a basic walking path. Just a tip: the trail isn’t manicured, so decent footwear is recommended.
Membership is only $25 per dog, per year, which covers mowing and maintenance. For that price, you can visit all year long and definitely get your money’s worth. On most visits you’ll see 6–15 dogs running around, and the humans are friendly too — lots of casual conversations while the pups play. You can enter without anyone asking for membership so I'd check it out once before signing up anyhow.
The park is bare bones: no playground equipment, no running water (though kind folks often leave water jugs and bowls), and limited seating. The idea seems to be that owners should stay on their feet and engaged. Bring toys or balls if your dog loves to fetch, and always clean up after your pup — poop bags are provided.
For us, it’s about a 10-minute drive, and it’s the perfect way to tire out the dogs before having company over or heading out for the evening. If you’re in the area, it’s a fantastic stop-in option. Just keep expectations realistic — it’s not a destination park worth a long trip, but for locals, it’s a gem.
