Our Visit to Butler Farm Dog Park – Milbury, MA 🐾
This weekend we took The Trio (plus a guest pup we were home boarding!) to Butler Farm Dog Park in Milbury. It had been a while since we visited—years, actually—after noticing a consistent lack of dogs during our visits in the past. But we decided to give it another shot!
💳 Park Access:The park requires a dog license to visit, which costs $25 annually. The fee supports ongoing maintenance, and it's easy enough to obtain.
🐕 Dog Turnout:This time around, there were two dogs to play with—not bad, but certainly not the bustling crowd we were hoping for. It's always more fun when there’s a variety of dogs to play with, especially for our energetic crew. We’ve heard it gets a little busier after 5 PM on weekdays, with around six dogs or so, but still no guarantee for a big social scene.
🌳 The Park Itself:The park has two fenced-in sections: one for small dogs (which is rarely used and not particularly well maintained), and a larger area for big dogs that’s sprawling and great for running. Huskies and Greyhounds, like the one we brought, can really stretch their legs here!
There’s some wooden agility equipment, though it’s definitely showing its age. Still, Rio has always loved hanging out under one of the bridges—some things never change, even at 6 years old! 🥹
🪑 Comforts & Amenities:
A gazebo with benches right at the entrance
A large shaded tree with a bench underneath
A gated rinse-off station with running water, hoses, and two kiddie pools (Nala always finds the only mud spot, of course)
Water bowls that visitors kindly keep filled throughout the day
Trash barrels and a poop bag station
A peaceful location off the main road with a community garden nearby 🌼
🌿 Room for Improvement:We noticed the grass was quite long, which made finding poop a little tricky across such a large area. And while the space is fantastic for running or training in a quiet environment, it might not be the best pick if you’re specifically looking to socialize your dog with others.
🏖️ Bonus Perk for Members:They host several Dog Swims at a local beach each summer—just for the pups! It’s free for members and donations are welcomed. A very fun and unique touch.
🎾 Final Thoughts:If your dog loves open space and you’re looking for a low-key outing or a place to train, Butler Farm Dog Park is worth checking out. If you’re hoping for a doggie party or lots of socialization, you might want to try during peak hours—or try your luck at another park!
